Dewsbury Learning Quarter Case Study
UK Special Projects Dewsbury Learning Quarter
Project: Dewsbury Learning Quarter
Package: £350,000
Date: July 2018

UK Special Projects are more than familiar with education jobs now after years of builds in this sector and it is always a pleasure to be part of these schemes, UK Special Projects undertook the SFS/ CP board for the externals and full drywall and ceilings package for the internals which was very intricate with 6 sided bulkheads throughout the Atrium area with a 50mm slot opening for the fire curtain. The end results will be worth the detail.
Kier Construction were the main contractors on this ambitious scheme to create the Dewsbury Learning Quarter’ and expand college places.
College vice-principal, Melanie Brooke, told Kirklees Council’s Strategic Planning Committee that the new premises would “really improve the perception and experience” of hundreds of 16-18-year-old students.
The development of the two sites will allow about 1,000 students to be relocated from the current campus further up Halifax Road, with room for expansion.
A “significant rise” in the number of school leavers is expected over the next 10 years in and around the Huddersfield and Dewsbury area and UK Special Projects are proud to be part the team that enable the further education of the UK’s children.
